About Fishtailz

Fishtailz is built by anglers, for anglers — and for the clubs that keep the sport going.

Why we're building it

Anyone who's been on a club committee knows the drill. The membership list lives in a spreadsheet. The renewals live in someone's inbox or worse, a physical folder. Competitions are tallied by hand or in spreadsheets, and finalising winners takes an age, with the pressure of fishos waiting for the prizegiving. Sponsors get thanked at prizegiving, no conversion methods used or any way for the club or sponsor to see the value and return on their investment.

It works, mostly, because people volunteer their weekends to make it work. But it's a lot of admin for a sport that's supposed to be about getting out on the water.

Fishtailz started because Corey belongs to a number of fishing clubs, one of which he is on the committe for, and he got tired of watching good people spend their time on paperwork and manual processes instead of fishing.

What it does

For clubs, Fishtailz handles the unglamorous parts: member records, renewals, competitions and results, sponsors and prize pools. One place, always current, no version-control-by-email.

For associations, it connects affiliated clubs so members, results and records flow through without anyone re-keying them.

For charter operators, it manages vessels, crew, trips and customers.

And for anglers, it keeps your own record — every trip, every catch, however you measure up against your mates.

Who's behind it

Fishtailz is a product of Fishy Business 2026 Limited (NZBN 9429053728753), a New Zealand company based in Auckland.

Corey (the Founder) has spent [20+] years as a data/analytics engineer; building systems, processes and information assets that large organisations manage their business on. Fishtailz applies those skills to a much better subject.

Where we're at

We're small, and deliberately so.

We're starting with a small group of keen anglers and a couple of smaller clubs, making sure everything works properly before we grow. If you'd like to be part of that, or have any other question or feedback, get in touch.

Built in New Zealand. Tested on the water.
